This Showcase honors the rivalry between “Iron” Mike and “Real Deal” Holyfield. A rivalry that was marked by a huge scandal, but ended in a close friendship after many years. Mike Tyson vs. Evander Holyfield – the duel between these two boxing legends, which took place over two fights in the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas between 1996 and 1997, is probably one of the most legendary duels in the history of boxing. Although both boxers are undisputedly among the best heavyweights of all time, Mike Tyson was listed as the clear favorite by the bookmakers. And this despite the fact that he had only been released from prison a year earlier. Nevertheless, Holyfield managed to win the first fight, becoming the first boxer since Muhammad Ali to become heavyweight champion three times.
The second fight, seven months later, ended in the biggest boxing scandal of all time: the “Bite Fight” was stopped after three rounds because Tyson bit off a piece of his opponent’s ear and spat it onto the floor of the boxing ring. The evening ended in pure chaos, but at the same time went down in boxing history.
Despite all the incidents, the two boxers remain close friends today, many years after their legendary careers.

• The boxing gloves come with a Boxing Showcase for display purposes; the Showcase is of solid and robust quality. The glass is made of acrylic. The base is black and the back wall is decorated with a mirror to show off the boxing gloves to their best advantage. The showcase is screwed together and closes completely. The name plate on the front is made of aluminum.
