Unopened set box with MLB trading cards and logo stickers of the best pitchers and hitters from 1986. Legends like Mike Schmidt, Reggie Jackson or Will Clark played in the MLB and the New York Mets won the World Series against the Boston Red Sox at the end of the season. In Game 6 overtime, the Red Sox were twice within a strike of the championship but still lost the World Series over 7 games. The cult surrounding the legendary Babe Ruth curse “Curse of the Bambino” was on everyone’s lips again. Since selling Babe Ruth to the New York Yankees in 1920, the Red Sox haven’t won a championship for nearly 90 years, although they were considered the most successful team in the majors prior to the sale. The curse did not end before the 2004 World Series win over the Cardinals.

• – The set (“Factory Set”) comes from a “Set Box” opened by Memorabilia Germany, which contains a total of 36 sets. The 44 trading cards make up the entire set of the series, the logo stickers vary from box to box. Despite their age, all boxes are in immaculate condition.
• The boxes were sold exclusively in branches of the now defunct “Five and Dime” stores in the USA in 1986.
• The set includes cards from some of the greatest MLB legends of 1986, including Will Clark’s very first trading card to be licensed by the MLB. A rookie card from legendary Oakland A’s outfielder Jose Canseco is also included in the set. Canseco was named “Rookie of the Year” in 1986.
• Background infos 1986: Nintendo releases the cult video game “Legend of Zelda” and the “Oprah Winfrey Show” is created. Movies like “Top Gun”, “Aliens” and “Platoon” are hitting the cinemas, while Cyndi Lauper, Bon Jovi and Genesis are dominating the charts. Our “vintage” trading cards are a dream for every nostalgic and for every collector, since they are not reproductions of the earlier cards, but all the packs are original from the time they were published then.
